Terms and Conditions
- Ordering and availability :
- Customers should select the items that they require and submit the order to us. Payment details must be entered at this stage to pre-authorise payment. Once we have confirmed availability of the goods the payment will be taken.
- If some (or all) of the products are not available then we will, following consultation with the customer, place the items on backorder and notify the customer as soon they become available (see also 3.g). Dependent on timing, the payment method may need to be pre-authorised again
- If preferred, we will select an appropriate product to replace the unavailable items. This will only occur following consultation with the customer (see also 2.e)
- Orders may be placed in the following ways: website, phone 01243 537352, fax 01243 780773, or in ‘The Dining Room at Purchase’s’ shop
- The customer has the right to cancel their order under certain circumstances, please see ‘Cancellations and Returns’ for details
- An order is an offer to buy from us. There will be no contract of any kind between the customer and us unless and until we accept the order and take payment
- Descriptions and prices :
- All prices quoted are inclusive of V.A.T. (currently at 15%) and are quoted per bottle unless otherwise stated. Where a ‘case’ is mentioned the definition is as follows:

- 24 x 37.5cl
- 6 x 150cl
- 1 x 300cl
- All prices set out on the website are subject to change at any time.
- Please note that all previous prices and pricelists are superseded by the prices displayed on the website and the latest version of the pricelist.
- If we have incorrectly priced an item then we are under no obligation to supply it at that price. We will notify the customer of any errors or differences before payment is taken so that the customer is fully aware of any additional charges that may be added or removed.
- If a product is specified by us to replace an unavailable item then any additional costs will be payable by the customer.
- Tasting notes and product descriptions are subjective and offered as a guide only.
- Item specifics may change at any time without warning. These changes include, but are not limited to:
- Price
- Names and titles
- Country or area of production
- Vintage
- Grapes or ingredients used
- Tasting notes and descriptions
- A.B.V. figures
- Label and bottle design
- Bottle closure method
- Payment :
- Payment is taken via our secure partner PROTX.
- When your order is submitted we shall pre-authorise your preferred payment method for the total amount.
- Once we have confirmed availability we shall complete the transaction and move the funds
- Once payment is taken the order will be processed
- Payment will be accepted in UK pounds sterling only
- We accept payment by:
- Mastercard
- Visa
- Maestro
- Switch
- Delta
- American Express (please phone 01243 537352 if you wish to place an order)
- Cash (not applicable to internet or mail order transactions)
- If part of an order is unavailable then payment will only be taken for the goods available following consultation with the customer.
- Collection and delivery :
- Customers should specify at the time of order their preferred dispatch method
- We offer three dispatch methods:
- Collection from 31 North Street, Chichester, PO19 1LY
- Delivery (please note that this is a chargeable service which is only available in the ‘local’ area)
- Courier (please note that this is a chargeable service and is available to residents of the UK mainland only)
- Additional delivery options may be available upon request.
- Payment for a delivery or courier is charged at cost.
- Estimated delivery times are available upon request.
- Delivery times and fulfilments are subject to the carrier’s terms and conditions.
- Any irregularities or shortages should be reported via the website within 24 hours of receipt of the goods (collection, delivery or courier).
- Items collected or signed for must be done so only by persons over the age of 18.
- Due to customs regulations we are unable to send items outside of the UK mainland.
- Cancellation and returns :
- Goods are not supplied on a ‘Sale or Return’ basis unless by prior arrangement.
- Orders placed via the website or telephone may be returned up to seven working days from receipt of the goods.
- If whole or part of an order is to be returned the details must be submitted in writing to the website with details of the goods and the reason for return.
- Customers should notify us if they wish to return faulty goods so that a replacement product can be sourced. Faulty goods will be exchanged like for like where possible. Replacement products must be of a similar style, brand and price.
- Delivery charges associated with the return of goods or the issuing of replacement goods are the responsibility of the customer. Charges may be waived for faulty goods following the item’s return (in good time) and inspection by ourselves
- If a wine, spirit or liqueur has been stored inappropriately or kept too long we may not be able to offer a replacement or credit.
- Items returned can only be accepted if they are in a re-saleable condition and in their original packaging i.e. unopened and undamaged with labels and boxes intact
- Whilst every effort is made to ensure the provenance and condition of mature wines we cannot be held responsible for any wine later to be found out of condition.
- Any refunds or credit notes will be issued within 30 days of the return of the goods in the case of cancelled orders.
- Credit notes will be valid for six months from their issue. Credit notes may only be used to purchase goods from ‘The Cellar Door’ and not its associated businesses .
- Other services :
- Promotions offered are subject to change without warning and may be valid for a finite period of time.
- Discounts that are based upon the patronage of ‘The Dining Room’ restaurant will be subject to availability and may not be extended to all services that the restaurant offers. Discounts offered should be declared to either the restaurant at the time of booking or to the website at the time of initial order application.
- We may offer other services such as special offers, discounts, promotions, events etc. These services shall be subject, in addition to these terms and conditions, to specific terms and conditions relating to them. By taking the service or special offers, discounts and promotions etc you agree to the additional terms and conditions.
- Personal details :
- All payments are processed by a secure payment gateway called PROTX.
- We may use customer’s details to send out unique promotions and periodic newsletters relating to either ‘The Cellar Door’, ‘The Dining Room at Purchases’ or ’31 North’ only.
- You may opt out of receiving information regarding special offers and our newsletter. Please use the ‘Contact us’ facility on the website’s homepage.
- If you are just browsing this website we will not capture any personal information that can identify you. The site will record information from your browser, including your IP address, cookies and visited pages.
- We will not pass or sell customer details to third parties.
